Once upon a time there were some students with an idea to give other students more opportunity to perform at USC. Their idea evolved into COUSC ...

The Chamber Opera of USC was founded c. 2003 by Cheri Stark. They specifically envisioned non-traditional operatic roles for undergraduate students to fill, while offering graduates the opportunity to try a hand at directing.

Some peak performances have included Amahl and the Night Visitors at the 24th Street Theatre for local Los Angelenos, the premiere of several pieces including three Shakespeare scenes by Francis Kayali, Robert Gross, and Bob Lydecker commissioned in 2007.
